The cold weather is coming, so it’s time to think about preventing alligator skin. Maybe you tanned a little too much during the Summer and your skin has taken on a slightly dull tone. Now is the time to begin doing treatments that will keep your skin moist and supple all winter long.
In some parts of the country, you may have needed to turn on the heat already. Whether your heat is gas or electric, moisten the air with a humidifier. Dry Winter air can make your skin flaky and irritate already existing problems. How do you know if the air is dry in your house? If you get static electricity or your skin gets dry right after a bath, those are pretty good clues
Skin care must be good enough to eat!

To keep your skin smooth through the colder months, start out with a good exfoliation. You can make a body scrub with brown sugar and olive oil. If you don’t have olive oil, use the oil of your choice, such as coconut or grapeseed. You want the mixture to be a thick paste, so a ratio of 2 parts sugar to 1 part oil will work. This mixture is best used on DRY skin! Do not wet your skin first.
Using dry hands, spread the mix all over your body, from the neck down. Make sure to avoid sensitive areas, such as genitals. You can use it on underarms though, since this will allow for a better shave or wax. Pay special attention to thicker skinned areas such as knees, elbows and heels. Rubbing in a circular motion will loosen all the dead skin. Once the whole body is exfoliated, you will want to rinse in the shower with warm, NOT hot water.

If your skin feels a little too oily after rinsing for your taste, use a body wash that is sulfate free to remove some of the extra oil. After rinsing, pat your skin dry and slather on a rich cream. Now you’re ready to put on something soft and sexy. Repeat this process when dead skin builds up and you will emerge from Winter with baby smooth skin.
